Kalpana Dasgupta to present keynote address at Annual Satkal Awards Function at GND University (Bharat Sandesh, Amritsar, September 30, 2008)<br /> <a href="http://bharatsandesh.com/bharat/index.php?option=com_content&amp;task=view&amp;id=7171&amp;Itemid=27">http://bharatsandesh.com/bharat/index.php?option=com_content&amp;task=view&amp;id=7171&amp;Itemid=27</a><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/6405664192274501300-3922020262949733466?l=satkal.blogspot.com' alt='' /></div>KISHOR CHANDRA SATPATHYhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00573164439901573034noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6405664192274501300.post-27150290112588489282008-10-10T05:03:00.000-07:002008-10-10T05:05:34.528-07:00<em><span style="color:#cc33cc;">SATKAL 2008 AWARD</span></em><br /><br />Four eminent personalities from library profession were honoured for their commendable contribution in their field at the ninth Satkal Annual Award function.<br /><br />The event was organised by the Satkal Trust under the aegis of Bhai Gurdas Library of the Guru Nanak Dev University on 3 Oct. 08.<br /><br />Dr Davinder Kaur, president, Satkal chaired the panel discussion held on information and communication technology (ICT) and Indian libraries.<br /><br />Among others, Dr HR Chopra, Chandigarh, Sangeeta Kaul, New Delhi, Dr VK Anand, Chandigarh, Dr Amritpal Kaur, Dr HS Chopra, Naresh Nandan of the varsity participated in the discussion.<br />The participants deliberated on the issues like upgradation of information and communication technology, utilisation of ICT and capacity building in libraries.<br /><br />Kalpana Dasgupta, chairperson (libraries) of National Knowledge Commission, New Delhi, addressed the technical session.<br /><br />Dr SS Chahal, director research and Dr Raghubir Singh Dean, Academic Affairs also expressed their views.<br /><br />Dr Jai Rup Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University, presented awards.<br /><br />Dr Harish Chandra, librarian at Central Library, IIT, Chennai, was honoured with the Punjab Librarian Award, while Dr Neela Jagannathan, a former librarian of Indira Gandhi National Open University, Delhi, received Women Librarian Award.<br /><br /><span style="color:#ff0000;">Mr. Kishore Chandra Satpathy, who received the Young Librarian Award hails from Indore (MP) and presently working as librarian in the Indian Institute of Management</span>.<br /><br />The Best School Librarian Award was given to Renu Bala Dosanjh. She supervises and manages main school library of SKV Delhi Administration, Rajouri Garden.<br /><br />Speaking on the occasion, the VC said they would implement all recommendations of the University Grants Commission for the library professionals.
